I first tried it with my Audio-Technica ATH-M50X headphones and there was some distortion/breakup on the right side. Just set up my Schiit Stack this weekend. I might prefer the OG Bifrost MB to the Modi 3+ purely for how it does a contiguous and convincing headstage, but the Modi actually outdoes it for gross detail retrieval. The LC had a bigger headstage with better center field imaging though it was really more laterally extended than it was deep. I may honestly prefer the Magni 3+ as an amp over the original Cavalli Liquid Carbon other than the LC having a more agreeable-to-me voicing. Also much easier to discern minute differences in tone and timbre, like soft lilts in the voice or strange inflections and leaning into vocal overdrive. The MM3+ can better resolve subtle changes in dynamics and, I kid you not, I was blown away by how much easier it was distinguishing individual voices singing concurrently. Don't have the HE-4xx at home anymore but these ought to be able to at least drive those well I feel. Overall detail retrieval kicks the Fulla's ass in a very unsubtle way and there's at least enough power on tap to have excellent control over my headphones' drivers, though they may struggle a bit with more inefficient planars. The fulla 2 just sounds like PC soundcard++ to me but the MM3+ stack has a more coherent, if not necessarily larger, headstage. Headphones are a Klipsch HP-3 and Senn HD600, and I've had the opportunity to try a fair bit of gear over the years both at home and at meets when those were still a thing. Have the Fulla 2 and recently got the Magni/Modi 3+ in. NO AFFILIATE LINKS, but if you find a great deal on something and want to share use.
